Two weeks ago Eboocz came out of hiding and marched onto the ebook scene. As a complete newbie, a nobody in the ebook world, I started with a price experiment by giving it away for free so early adopters could get their hands on it and start writing ebooks. Now, two weeks later, Eboocz has been downloaded almost 2000 times from all over the world. Hello World!
Eboocz was particularly popular in Japan in the first week, then Spain took over and in the end the USA marched steadily into first place. Also a warm welcome to the users in Burkina Fasso, Kenya, Lebanon and Mauritius. The world is flat! I welcome you. Create some cool new ebooks with Eboocz and let me know how they were received in your country.
I’ve come to love Apple’s iTunes Connect dashboard where one can see day-by-day what’s happening. How many downloads and where they’re from. I did of course choose the whole world as my intended audience, but when you see it happening before your eyes that people in all those countries are downloading it and perhaps will even use it, even though it might just be to try it out, that is a brilliant feeling that makes me proud. Thanks a lot!
In the meantime, Christmas is closing in and I need to buy some more presents for the family. To finance this, I will now move on with my experiment and raise the price from free to the first tier. This means you’ll pay $0.99 in the USA, or €0.99 in Europe, ¥120 in Japan, and I guess about 38 MUR, Mauritian Rupee that is. I hope this will not scare you all away. 99 Cents is almost free, so don’t be afraid. It’s almost Christmas. Just play that song by Nena, 99 Luftballons and think of those 99 balloons as 99 cents that will fly across the globe. I’ll make sure they will be treated with respect.
